Weekly Video Review

In this video, pay attention to the following:

Opening segment of this clip illustrates goals as I love to see them scored.  US goalie Keller, as any good goalie would do when faced with a close encounter, committed.  The great part of the play is that the Mexico striker rather than try to be the scorer offered an assist and the scorer had a wide open net - both assist and goal are off headers.  I say it time and time again, when you have a narrow angle on goal, act like you're going to but don’t try to score; the good goalie covers the near post.  Dish the ball back out into open field for someone with a better view to finish.  For the sake of the team, an assist is always better than nothing.

Plenty of other moves in the clip illustrate the “pull out” strategy.  Possibly the best example is id'd as "This is the move right here"

Another important segment of this clip is the need to keep the ball down ASAP.  In the amateur setting, you might only risk losing the ball.  In tougher settings, you might be at risk of bodily harm.  Practice constantly to connect the ball at the earliest opportunity.
